Psychological Assessments and Psychotherapy

As a licensed clinical psychologist, Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela provides psychological services to clients based in Ontario and Québec. Psychological services include initial psychological assessments and psychotherapy. She is currently offering services to adults for the following difficulties or needs:

  • Eating Disorders and Body-Image Concerns
  • Perinatal Mental Health Difficulties
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Depression
  • Self-Esteem Difficulties
  • Relational Difficulties
  • Adjustment Difficulties

*Please note that at this time Dr. Arias-Valenzuela will not be adding any adolescents to her waitlist.

Treatment Modalities

Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela has received training in the following treatment interventions:

  • Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy
  • Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy
  • Radically-Open Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy
  • Family-Based Therapy (or Maudsley) for Anorexia Nervosa

Clinical Consultation

Dr. Melisa Arias-Valenzuela provides consultation services to other healthcare professionals (psychologists, psychotherapists, social workers, etc.). Consultation is defined by the College of Psychologists of Ontario as “the provision of information, within a relationship of professionals of relatively equal status, generally based upon a limited amount of information that offers a point of view that is not binding with respect to the subsequent professional behaviour of the recipient of the information” (Standards of Professional Conduct, 2017). When providing clinical consultation, Dr. Arias-Valenzuela does not have access to any identifying information or charts. She also does not sign client invoices for other professionals.

Fees

Dr. Arias-Valenzuela’s professional fees are consistent with the Ontario Psychological Association recommendations and are $225 per 50-minute session. Payment is due at time of service (e-transfers or credit card payment accepted).

A receipt will be emailed to you following the appointment, which you may submit to your health insurance company if applicable. Some coverage plans require a doctor’s referral prior to receiving services in order to receive reimbursement. Please contact your benefits provider directly to verify your coverage and inquire about conditions. Psychologist fees are income tax deductible as medical expenses.

Please note that 48 hours-notice is required for appointment cancellation or the full session fee is applied.
